This past April, Grant embarked on a six-day off-road motorbike journey through the famous Ha Giang loop, an experience that offered a unique glimpse into the heart of the country.

Our adventure began in Hanoi, where we took a bus to Ha Giang province. We based ourselves with Tom Stone, a Kiwi who has built an exceptional tour business. The setup was flawless from the start; the accommodation was top-notch, and the on-site bar and restaurant provided the perfect place to unwind after a long day’s ride. The 7-day package, which included a reliable CRF300 bike, all meals, and lodging, represents what I believe is the best value for a bike tour anywhere in the world.
The route was a thrilling mix of single tracks, rugged gravel paths, and quiet concrete roads that wind through the remote countryside. This is where you see the real Vietnam. Every day was filled with spectacular scenery, incredible local food, and encounters with the super-friendly local people who call these mountains home.
The itinerary was perfectly paced. We spent the first three days riding north, pushing right up to the Chinese border fence line. After returning to Ha Giang for a well-deserved rest day, we headed south for another three days, tackling some of the best trails you could ever hope to find.
The total cost for this all-inclusive experience is ridiculously affordable. It’s a small price to pay for an adventure that delivers memories to last a lifetime.
