Our team swears by base layers when the temperature drops. They’re one of those pieces of kit you don’t always think about until you’re out on the bike wishing you had worn one.

A good motorcycle base layer helps keep you comfortable in all kinds of riding conditions. In warmer weather, cooling base layers work by pulling sweat away from your skin so it can evaporate quickly, helping you stay cooler and more comfortable on the bike. When winter rolls in, thermal base layers do the opposite job. They help trap body heat while still moving moisture away from your skin, so you stay warm, dry, and much more comfortable for the ride.

The big difference is the fabric. A standard cotton T-shirt tends to soak up sweat and stay damp, which can leave you feeling cold and uncomfortable. Motorcycle-specific base layers are made from quick-drying performance fabrics like polyester and spandex blends, designed to manage moisture, reduce discomfort, and help you feel better on the bike, whatever the weather is doing.
